Dave lives at the top of a big hill and his office is at the bottom, so he's all in favour of a helping hand. Plus, e-bikes are fun! He's the editor of ebiketips and one of the founders of EBT's road cycling sister site, road.cc. He used to work on Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike back in the day, and he's a former mountain bike bog snorkelling World Champion. Really.

Battery top control not working well, support does not reply now! Will have to sue for replacement battery case. Kit difficult to fit even for an Engineer of 35 years on my expensive sports bike. No help from Tec Support, sent them photos of all my mods, no reply at all. Does not fit 99% of bikes!!!

I ordered my kit in June of 2018. The delivery date was September, but the unit didn't ship until the end of December. Then, once shipped to the United States, the kit sat in a warehouse for weeks and weeks. Swytch customer support was utterly useless, and kept sending out boilerplate emails to be patient - it'd ship in another week. The company blamed FedEx, claiming the company would only pick up ten cartons per day. It makes you wonder how every other company on earth seems to get along with FedEx just fine. It was the last week in March 2019 before my Swytch arrived. Even then, there was drama, because the Swytch front wheel turned out to be  nearly one-third of an inch narrower than the stock wheel it was replacing. I dumped it all into the care of my local bike shop, who quickly got everything up and running. So far, the Swytch works as expected. But the months of frustration, lies and excuses have taken such a toll that I can't say that I'll ever be satisfied with it. Do yourself a favor. Do business with some other company until this one has been around for a couple of years and has a chance to get its act together.

Ordered ordered in July, received 22 Jan. Very difficult to for as axles don’t fit the forks. Had to buy new tyre) (£60) and that is as far as I have got. Very disappointing.

I ordered my kit on 11/18/2017.   I still have not received anything, and have been ignored for months.   I would stay far away from these folks.   And yes, they were happy to deposit my deposit quickly, but refuse to give a refund when they did not deliver.    I’m out $363, so buyers beware!

I've had 4 kits for months. The two Brompton kits were easy to fit and after swapping one of the battery brackets work ok but can be jerky after 13mph. The battery range though is appalling.

My two full size kits do not fit my chosen bikes; the botton bracket is too fat to fit a sensor. Swytch have sent me an alternate sensor but that does not fit. I have been promised another sensor that has been in stock for weeks at Swytch but they are being tardy in sending them.

I think their message of convert any bike should be changed to convert your old bit of junk into an ebike as their kits do not fit anything else.

Swytch support is appalling though I would add a word in there that rhymes with duck. They hide behind email and it is impossible to phone them

I love the concept of a light weight e-bike kit and I would love Swytch to succeed however, they are rubbish to deal with and I would not recommend them.

I also ordered my kit in May 18 and have still not received it. They do not respond to emails, have not sent updates for months, and do not have a phone number. Can anyone help?

Hi,

I was wondering, if the switch bag is left out in the rain / snow - what is the potential damage? I.e. is the system water-proof? And it appears as though if the bag is not attached to the mount, then leaving the mount uncovered during rain/snow-fall it potential hazardous?

What are your thoughts?

couldn't say for sure, but i think it's more likely to be a manufacturing capacity thing - the crowdfunder was pretty successful and they may be struggling to get those initial orders fulfilled

I ordered one of these kits back a the beginning of April.  The anticipated delivery date I was given was mid-June which was an oh well thing.  One issue is that they took the took the funds for the purchase right away instead of waiting until shipment which suprised me.  Now a few days before the shipping date for the order they send out an email delaying delivery an additional six weeks.  This doesn't inspire faith in the company or their product.  Hopefully the problem isn't that they are losing money on each unit and don't have parts and/or the funds to complete manufacuturing.
