A lot of the bikes we cover here on ebiketips defy straightforward categorisation. Manufacturers frequently fit wider tyres and add suspension so that an ostensibly ‘urban’ e-bike can also be used on off-road trails. Italian brand Thok have delivered something similar in a different way with their new MIG-HT. Essentially a hardtail e-MTB, it is also available with a touring kit that will turn it into a commuter e-bike.
We’ve featured Thok a handful of times before now thanks to their recurring collaborations with Ducati. These have resulted in an e-MTB, a trekking e-bike and most recently an e-road bike.
The 2022 version of the MIG-HT (which is nothing to do with Ducati) is billed as a ‘versatile e-MTB’ – an off-road bike that can also be used around town.
The bike features Shimano’s E7000 mid-motor with a 504Wh semi-integrated battery that is positioned under the down tube to lower the centre of gravity and improve handling.
You also get a RockShox 120mm travel suspension fork, Maxxis 29x2.6” tyres, SRAM disc brakes and Shimano Deore 10-speed gearing.
You can then choose to add the ‘tourer kit’ which comprises mudguards, rear luggage rack, lighting system, kickstand and Schwalbe Big Ben 29x2.15” tyres.
The MIG-HT is already available now via the Thok website, priced at £3,199.
