Raleigh have launched a new range of e-bikes through Halfords, introducing six affordable urban models starting at £1,350 for the Evo e-folder.
The range of the bikes in the range range from 30 to 70 miles (that's enough ranges to last a lifetime) and are available exclusively through Halfords. The retailer is keen to push the e-bike side of the business after research they commissioned found that 22% of people surveyed think that e-bikes are the future of commuting in cities, while 54% thought they are a very useful form of transport for the elderley or less able-bodied.
The Evo is the least expensive at £1,350, and is described as the "ultimate convenience solution" for commuters looking for an easily transportable ride. it has 20" wheels and a simple folding mechanism, folding down to a size of 88cm x 80cm x 40cm.
The Felix+ is the premium hybrid in the range, coming in at £2,149. It comes ready to take on the commute or trails in all weathers with mudguards, a pannier rack, a kickstand and integrated front and rear lights, plus front suspension for plenty of vibration dampening and extra comfort.
You can get it with either nine speed derailleur gears or a seven speed hub system for the ultimate in low maintenance, and there is also a step-through version. The motor is courtesy of Bosch in the form of their Active Line Plus Motor system, providing up to 270% power output in its top setting.
The Felix is priced at £1,799, and has the slightly less powerful regular Bosch Active Line motor system that can deliver 240% power output on full whack. You get 7-speed Shimano Altus gearing and chunky 42mm Schwalbe Road Cruiser tyres that will be fine for the road and brief trail forays.
It's also ready to go off the peg with mudguards, panniers and front suspension, with a choice between regular or step-through frames.
