The first showroom in the north east solely dedicated to promoting the rapidly expanding electric bicycle market has just opened in Morpeth.

Ian Simpson and Peter Bredael, partners in the Morpeth Electric Bicycle Company, have opened the showroom above Ian’s Sims Cycle Workshop in Greys Yard in the centre of town to display a range of, not only stylish electric bikes, but ones that are putting to the best possible use the massive strides forward being made in the manufacture of power assisted bicycles.

On the Continent where riding a bike is almost a way of life in many countries, dealers are now selling as many electric bicycles as conventional machines and that’s a trend that is about to revolutionise cycling in this country.

The new electric bikes now on the market are on par with the most sought after conventional road and mountain bikes and more riders are converting to owning one. They are smart and stylish and technology is developing so fast that batteries can last for upto 136 miles before needing to be recharged and the batteries themselves can last for many years before needing to be replaced. The town and city models are ideal for urban use and with their fat tyres and suspension adventure electric bikes can cope with the thrills of riding virtually any terrain.

Electric bikes offer riders all the advantages of pedal-power cycling with the bonus of a battery-powered motor that can kick into help on the steepest of climbs both on the roads and off-road terrain., or give older bikers a whole new lease of life as cyclists meaning their rides can last far longer than their legs would be capable of taking them.
