The rather striking looking Ondawagon – a creation of Italian architect Federico Rossi – seems unlikely to hit its £45,000 crowdfunding goal with less than 10 per cent of the total raised so far.
Created by Italian startup, Rossi & Bossi, and featuring a sailing-inspired frame, the Ondawagon has so far raised just 8% of its funding goal on Indiegogo with eight days of the campaign remaining.
The Ondawagon features a 250-watt Brose electric motor and a 630Wh battery. It boasts a Shimano gearbox and a Nexus 5 gear hub.
However, the bike is far more striking for its size and appearance.
At 2.27m, it is undeniably long and this is a means to provide extra storage space, particularly to the rear.
Versatility was apparently a key concern. Project coordinator Giacomo Bertolazzi said he believed that Rossi had thought of the bike as, “a made-to-measure three-piece suit, able to customise itself for all occasions.”
It certainly seems adaptable. In the space behind the rider, users can opt for various cargo storage options, or a passenger seat or even two child seats.
That same section of the bike also features storage compartments within.
Other attachments include foldable bags, aluminium racks and footrests.
The bike is priced at €6,500.
