Swagtron, the US brand best known for their electric scooters, skateboards and hoverboards, have moved into the world of full-sized electric bikes with the launch of the EB12 - and the price is set at just under the $1,000 mark.
Yamaha launches revamped 2020 motors
It comes with a removable battery strapped on the rear rack as opposed to the downtube, that gives you up to 28 miles of range on a single charge. The frame is 6061 aluminium with a reinforced steel fork, and both the battery and motor have an IPX4 waterproof rating.
Swagtron claim the EB12 weighs around 18kg, so taking it up and down stairs is just about manageable.
The EB12 comes with 25mm tyres, comfy flat bars and 7-speed Shimano gearing for a generous range. It's their first bike with standard 700c wheels and tyres, with their other bike models being electric folders.
Swagtron's skateboards and hoverboards are available via some UK retailers, but we're not yet sure if the EB12 will be sold directly on this side of the pond and if so, what the price in UK pounds will be. We'll update (and try to get our hands on one for testing) if we find out...
