Mercedes-Benz has lent its name to a pair of e-bikes with the release of the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team eBike and slightly pricier Silver Arrows.
The Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team is a German motor racing team that competes in the Formula E championship dedicated to electric cars.
Bike manufacturer n+ has a long-term agreement with both the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 and Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E teams to produce bikes bearing their branding.
The firm already produces the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team V11 road bike and it has now added two e-bike models (shipping is scheduled for January).
The Formula E Team eBike features a 250W mid-drive motor and a 252Wh Panasonic battery which is concealed within the seat tube and offers a 60km range.
There’s an integrated charging point, but the battery’s removable and the charge time is said to be 3.5 hours.
The bike also features a carbon fibre fork, hydraulic disc brakes and a Sturmey Archer 5-speed internal hub. It is priced at $3,200 (£2,400).
The Silver Arrows version features double the battery capacity, plus an Enviolo Internal Gear Hub and Gates carbon belt drive. That one costs $4,500 (£3,400).
