Got a lazy teen hanging around the house? Well Halfords think they've come up with the solution for them, and on the other hand for those young'uns who are a bit too active and need a motor to tackle gnarly trails... and that is the new Carrera Vengeance E-junior!
E-bike use "to grow by 40,000% by 2050", according to Halfords' research
The launch coincides with Halfords finding their e-bikes sales have grown considerably in the past few years (more details in the article linked above) and as they say themselves: "It’s not just silver cyclists enjoying the e-bike revolution"; therefore, they reckon teenagers should join the e-bike boom too.
The design borrows heavily from the full-size Vengeance e-mountain bike first launched in 2017, and features a 317Wh battery with 40 miles of range that takes four hours to fully charge. It has a rear hub Suntour electric motor system, eight gears with a 1x chainring and the Tektro mechanical disc brakes, Suntour XCE front suspension and 26" Kenda tyres make it more than capable of taking on trails.
Halfords' Darren Smith explains the retailer's decision to offer an e-bike for teens: "As the e-bike revolution gathers pace, making them accessible to teenagers seems to be the next obvious step. Not only will they be able to keep pace and even cycle past their parents, but the combination of pedal assistance and long battery range means they will be able to ride further, and hills and trails will feel that little bit flatter. We think anything that encourages and inspires more people to take up cycling can only be a good thing.”
The bike costs £850, on sale at Halfords stores and online now - click here to see buying options and a full spec list.
