About our Newcastle shop

Our Newcastle shop occupies a landmark building (originally a Victorian pub called the Blue Bell) at the top of Shields Road, Byker.

Continuity

Before we took over the shop in 2003, it traded as Hardisty Cycles. Key members of John & Margaret Hardisty’s staff have stayed on to work under the Bike Co-op banner to this day, including the shop manager, Simon Telford; deputy manager, Keith Lippett; assistant manager, Graeme Tatters; and senior mechanic, Dave Watson.

We are dedicated to displaying a fantastic range of bicycles, cycle clothing and cycling equipment, backed up by honest, enthusiastic, co-operative service (including a professional in-house cycle repair service).

We pride ourselves in taking an active role in the local cycle community, and provide free mobile mechanical support for major rides in Northumberland, including the Great North Bike Ride and Wooler Wheel events.
