Greyp, the Croatian electric supercar company who have been dipping their toes into e-bikes since 2013 and supplying bikes to footballers such as Lionel Messi, are back with a mysterious new e-mountain bike that appears to come with a phone docking port and smart connectivity.
We get a couple of clues as to what the bike will feature in the teaser video above, which shows our protagonist connecting to an app and docking his phone before taking the full-sus beast onto an icy trail. On their website, Greyp reveal the new line of bikes will be called G6 (we're guessing there will be various specs) and hint more about the connected features: "The new generation of Greyp bikes will be able to exchange data between the vehicle and its mobile app. All Greyp G6 bikes will be independently connected and interconnected which is a great technological breakthrough, not to brag."
They also talk of a new 'eSTEM' that controls cameras, so we think that means this bike will come with a smart stem off the peg: “Greyp eSTEM is a Central Intelligence Module for the bicycle that controls two cameras (front and rear), monitors the rider's heart rate, has a built-in gyroscope, navigation and eSIM that allows it to be connected at all times. The e-bike system uses a mobile phone as a user interface and the mobile app creates a unique user experience thanks to the various new options like a remote bike kill switch, photo acquisition, text to bike and remote power limitation.”
It all sounds super futuristic and exciting, so it's no wonder that Greyp are the e-bike of choice for the likes of Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique to get to training when they don't fancy taking the car. Here they are receiving their custom G12's in June last year in the Insta post above.
We've got no pricing or anything more than the social media teasers and small titbits of info from Greyp's website at the moment, but with their other e-bikes starting at around £7,000 we can assume this one won't come cheap. The G6 officially launches on the 15th March, stay tuned for more news next month...
