E-scooter operator, Voi Technology, is to offer regular users a free folding helmet. The unique range of Closca reflective helmets – which normally sell for €79.90 – will be delivered to people’s homes when they sign up for a Voi monthly pass.
It is not mandatory for e-scooter riders to wear a helmet in the UK, but Voi wants to encourage its users to do so.
“Safety remains our top priority for e-scooter usage,” said UK, Ireland, and Benelux general manager, Richard Corbett. “While we continuously educate our users through our RideLikeVoila e-scooter school, our online webinars, or our AA-Drive Tech e-module, we are aware that accessibility, availability, and convenience remain the main barriers to helmet usage.
“By partnering with Closca, we give Voi’s monthly pass users easy access to a safe, lightweight folding helmet they can easily carry around. I’m sure riders will enjoy wearing this beautiful piece of safety gear.”
The Closca Loop folding helmet can be swiftly reduced in volume by 45 per cent when not in use. It also features innovative ventilation to ensure airflow and a “concealed orifice system” to protect the rider from rain.
Closca CEO, Carlos Ferrando, commented: “We do what we do best: putting good design at the service of awareness. We create products, like the Helmet Loop Reflective, designed to inspire change.”
Voi is now operating in 17 UK towns and cities with further trials due to be announced. In February, the firm unveiled its new ‘pollution-fighting’ e-scooter which measures air quality and noise levels as it travels through urban areas.
