The Scottish Government, through its subsidiaries Transport Scotland and Home Energy Scotland, is to offer interest-free loans to residents to buy e-bikes.
The scheme is aimed at getting working households and families on e-bikes and out of cars, and support of up to £6,000 is available.
This can be split into two e-bikes priced at up to £3,000 apiece, or a cargo or adaptive e-bike that can cost up to the full £6,000 allowance. All e-bikes must also be fully compliant with UK regulations as they apply in Scotland (which are the same as they are in England and Wales).
In addition, Home Energy Scotland is also offering short-term trial periods with e-bikes, giving potential applicants a chance to try them before they buy.
