Somerset-based company, Powabyke UK, has become the UK distributor for MBM e-bikes, which specialises in stylish and chic city models.

We’re always happy to see new brands arrive on UK shores, but what makes us excited about the Powabyke UK-MBM deal is the motor technology the Italian marque uses for its e-bikes.

Instead of using motors from the usual suspects like Bosch or Bafang, it uses a crank-based motor designed by Olieds – either the Move Plus for city bikes, or the Sport model designed for off-road bikes - which we've not seen before on these shores.

MBM currently makes the Apostrophe and Maui city chic e-bikes, as well as the Oberon and Titania, alongside the Metis e-MTB. With a 522wh battery, the latter three are said to boast almost 100 hours of operational range. 

"It is a fantastic opportunity to have a partner in the UK,” says MBM sales director Vincenzo Medugno. 

“Powabyke is a well-established brand and is well placed to introduce the MBM range of bikes to customers throughout the UK."

Now that we’ll be seeing MBM’s e-bikes in the country, we’re looking forward to trying them and their new-to-the-market Olieds motors in the near future.
