We've been lucky enough to get hold of a Pinarello Nytro E-Road for testing, the first motor-assisted road bike from Pinarello.
Focus launches Paralane² e-road bike
If you know your pro road cycling you'll be aware that Pinarello sponsor Team Sky, and the frame is inspired by the multiple world tour-winning Dogma F10 to maintain the ride feel of a typical road bike with assistance when you need it. The total weight for the Nytro with all the gubbins was 14.07kg on our scales of truth, a little heavier than claimed but still very competitive.
It's specced with the Fazua Evation system that can provide up to 400 watts of assistance (although you'll be limited to 250W in the UK of course) with the motor and battery neatly integrated into the down tube - this system can also be clicked in and out of the frame any time, so you can also run it without the assistance too and save weight to the tune of around 4kg. The battery can be easily installed and removed when a charge is needed, thanks to a quick release system (shown below).
Some of the component highlights include hydraulic disc brakes with the 12mm thru-axle standard, and it can take up to 28mm tyres. An Italian-threaded bottom bracket, Sram Force group, FSA chainset and Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels make this a spec that wouldnt look out of place on any high-end race bike.
It all comes in at a princely £5,999, and we're testing the bike right now. Click through our gallery at the top to see all the finer parts of the Nytro up close, and for more info head over to the landing page on Pinarello's website.
