"Welcome to the fold", say pioneering British electric bike brand Gocycle... and the fold on their all new GX can be done in under 10 seconds.
Gocycle have redesigned their folding mechanism on the GX, and they say it now collapses faster than their existing GS and G3 bikes. Touted as "the perfect companion for daily commuting", Gocycle's bikes have rear hub shifting with a three-speed Shimano drivetrain, and a 250W front hub motor.
The bike's designer Richard Thorpe says: “We are incredibly excited about our new GX model as it will broaden the appeal of Gocycle to even more consumers. It is a true Gocycle, with a lightweight, stylish design – and fun – at its core, but with added fast-folding and stowing capability to make it even more versatile - the ideal companion for taking onto the train or into your office on your daily commute.”
Thorpe previously worked for McClaren as an engineer, and launched the GoCycle G1 in 2009. That was followed by the G2 in 2012, the first e-bike with Bluetooth connectivity, and the G3 debuted an industry-first Daytime Running Light inspired by auto design in 2016.
With Gocycle's customisation tool you can pick frame colours and add accessories such as an integrated light kit, panniers and mudguards. The price for the GX starts from £2,899, and Gocycle are already taking pre-orders through their website and via select resellers throughout the UK, US, Canada, and the EU. It will officially go on sale in the spring.
